San Juan Islands, Washington –
Visitors are invited to spend October celebrating with the Islands during the first annual month-long movable feast, "Savor the San Juans."
"Enjoy dining out specials of three Courses/$30 at several participating restaurants. Winemaker dinners, cooking classes, art gallery happenings, theater performances, and special presentations happen all month long," advises the visitor bureau's Tanya Marracci. "There's a veritable medley of culinary and cultural choices on Lopez, Orcas, and San Juan islands."
Festivities get underway October 1–15, at the San Juan Island's Museum of Art with a solo exhibit for sculptor John Heric. On October 3, Cynthia Burke conducts a cooking class, Joy of Soy, at the San Juan Public Library. Many events are the weekend of October 4–5, including Artstock, the second annual San Juan Island Fall Festival of the Arts, and Harvest Festival at San Juan Vineyards. On October 5, the Orcas Center presents the Seattle Chamber Players. Oktoberfest in Friday Harbor and a dance at the Oddfellows Hall on Orcas Island are set for October 12. A special Kids Discover While Adults Dine is at the Funhouse on Orcas Island October 12, 19, and 26. The Magic and Necessity of Bees is October 18, at the San Juan Nature Institute.
