Krazy! For Kids from 1 to 93

Vancouver, British Columbia

Karzy Logo The worlds of anime, comics, cartoon, video games, graphic novels, and contemporary art come together for the first time at the Vancouver Art Gallery when the exhibition KRAZY! runs May 17 through September 7.

One of the largest exhibits ever organized by the gallery, KRAZY! occupies two entire floors of gallery space. Divided into seven sections defined by medium, the exhibit takes viewers through ever-changing environments including a mini-theater for viewing animated cartoons and anime, immersive video spaces, and innovative reading environments for visitors to experience a deluge of manga (a Japanese form of comic books), graphic novels and comics.

"With this exhibit, we seize a tremendous opportunity to forward the study of some of the world's fastest growing art forms," says Kathleen Bartels, gallery director. Conceived and developed by gallery senior curator Bruce Grenville, the exhibition travels to a New York City arts institution in 2009. (604-662-4719; www.vanartgallery.bc.ca)
