What could be better than enjoying award-winning wines, distinctive local cuisine, and a powerhouse musical lineup under sunny skies at one of the region’s finest outdoor venues?
Woodinville Wine Country, a non-profit organization whose mission is to build awareness for Woodinville wines, will present Wine Notes on July 26 & 27, 2008 at King County’s Marymoor Park near Redmond, Washington. The signature event will bring together Woodinville wineries, top regional restaurants, and national artists. Event hours are Saturday, 5 p.m. – 9 p.m. and Sunday, 1 p.m. – 5 p.m.
Musical artists include funk and soul legends Tower of Power, swing kings Big Bad Voodoo Daddies and contemporary jazz masters Mindi Abair, Peter White, Michael Paulo and Greg Karukas.
The wine tasting and culinary music series is a first for the state, says Cynthia Dasté, Woodinville Wine Country Executive Director and one that is perfectly aligned with a growing national trend for culinary travel experiences that seek out wines and foods that are local and authentic.
"There are events similar to Wine Notes around the country but nothing of this nature in Washington State that specifically pairs wine, food, and music with such a beautiful outdoor setting. Given that Woodinville has emerged as an outstanding wine community, we are truly excited to create a first-class experience that showcases these remarkable wines and local culinary talent along with a top-notch musical lineup.”
Patrons will have the opportunity to sample and purchase wine from Woodinville’s celebrated wineries, many of which are not open to the public. Located approximately 20 miles northeast of Seattle, the small community, nestled in the Sammamish River Valley, is regarded as a unique haven for exceptional winemakers, who share a devotion to quality and craft of winemaking. In fact, Food & Wine Magazine recently chose several for top honors among its Best Washington Wines for 2007.
Another event highlight will be both location, and of course the season. “Marymoor Park is the perfect outdoor venue to enjoy green grass, open sky and an event such as this,” says Kevin Brown, King County Parks Director. “We are proud to have Wine Notes join us at one of the finest parks in the region and look forward to this becoming a signature summertime festival at Marymoor Park for many years to come.”
